Jewels is an addictive version of the popular puzzle game, Bejeweled.
For the benefit of the uninitiated, the aim of Jewels is to make lines of three or more gems of the same color. You do this by swapping one jewel with another, although you can only swap with a directly adjacent one. When you make a grouping, the jewels in that line disappear and more fall down onto the top of the grid. Points are awarded based on the length of the lines, and also for making combos.
There are three game modes in Jewels - Normal, Timed and Infinite. In Normal mode, you need to reach a given number of points before moving onto the next level. If you run out of moves (i.e. there are no connections to be made) then it's game over. Jewels' Timed mode sees you race the clock to get rid of jewels before the time runs out. Infinite mode, as you've probably guessed, lets you keep playing forever with no limits applied.
The graphics and overall presentation of Jewels is excellent, and it's great fun to play, to boot. Unfortunately though, the gems are just a little bit too small. This means that swapping them around can be cumbersome, especially if you've got big fingers.
Overall though, Jewels is a faithful version of Bejeweled for Android, that will have you hooked for hours.
